Etsy Maine Team Holiday Hunt!

Thursday, November 20th, 2008

I’m a member of the Etsy Maineteam, and we’ll be running a challenge from December 1 through December 5 on Etsy. Beginning on December 1, everyday shoppers who are participating will be asked to “hunt” through the Maineteam’s shops (no purchase necessary, but it would be nice…hint hint) to find a black bear. Once you have found them all, email the coordinator the item listings where they are located. If you have found all of the listings, your name will be entered into a drawing for a prize. The prize will be an item donated by a Maineteam artist. The drawing will take place each night. You can enter once per day over the 5 day period. For more information, please visit the Etsy Promotion Forums. Each day of the hunt, details will be posted here. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me, and I’ll do my best to get you an answer.

Dan-Clark.com or Etsy?

Tuesday, November 18th, 2008

In the spirit of giving my customers options, I’ve re-opened my etsy shop at http://danclark.etsy.com Actually, it was never closed per say, just pretty sparce and unattended. Right now, both shops have the same items listed, but I’m going to be separating them more as time goes on. I’ll also be running promotions and sales that are specific to each site, so be sure to check them both from time to time. If you have no idea which site to buy from, here are some small points to keep in mind.

Tax: If you live in Maine, the shop here at Dan-Clark.com will charge you 5% sales tax. My Etsy shop will not.
****UPDATE**** So I’m lying a bit when I say this. If you buy on Etsy, and pay via Paypal, it WILL add 5% sales tax for Maine residents

Shipping: Shipping at Dan-Clark.com will be based on the item weight and your actual shipping location. Etsy has a flat shipping rate.

Please note that sales or coupon codes on one site will NOT be accepted on the other, so if you have a code for Dan-Clark.com, it will not work on Etsy, and vice-versa.

Been Busy

Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008

So, obviously no big surprise, but I fell off the face of the blogearth again. My time hasn’t been spent meditating in the void this time, however. Before the “Big Whipe”, as I like to call it, I had previously mentioned taking a class at Artascope Studios. Well, I’ve taken a couple more, and was considering getting a membership. A friend of mind got me a gift certificate there, and I used that to start my membership. I’ve been going in pretty regularly on Sundays, and working for a few hours, and have stopped in a couple times during the week as well. They have a full metalworking studio, which is where I’ve been spending most of my time. It’s really great to be able to just work. When I’m there, I’m not tempted to sit and watch my inbox for new email, or surf randomly for hours, or spend hour after hour grinding trolls on WoW. All the equipment and tools I could possibly need are there, and I get a 20% discount on all supplies for being a member. The first class I had taken was “Wire-Wrapped Seaglass Pendants”. I had done some of that before, but really just wanted to get in there and take something. Next I took “Fused Glass Jewelry” and “Hammered Silver Jewelry”, and a few weeks ago I took “Soldered Silver Ring”. I have to admit that I was a bit intimidated about using the torch for soldering, but it’s so much easier than I expected. Here are some pics of a few of the items I’ve made. For more, check out my Flickr. Most of these will be listed in my Etsy shop soon, if they haven’t been already. Comments and criticisms are very welcome!
